The Foundation Every Modern Business Network Needs

Structured cabling is the standardized wiring system that connects everything in your building — computers, phones, IP cameras, access control readers, and wireless access points — to a central network closet or patch panel. Done right, it's clean, labeled, future-ready, and invisible.

Done wrong, it's a rat's nest of unlabeled cables that nobody wants to touch when something breaks. We've walked into plenty of both. Protection Pros installs structured cabling systems built to TIA/EIA standards using quality materials — the kind of installation you can add to and manage for years without calling us back to untangle anything.

One contractor for everything low-voltage. Protection Pros installs cabling for your camera system, access control, VoIP phones, and data network — all from one company, on one project timeline.

Structured Cabling Installation From Start to Finish

01

Site Assessment

We walk your building, identify every endpoint, and map the most efficient routing paths for each cable run — avoiding conduit conflicts and hidden obstacles.

02

System Design

We specify the right cable category, patch panel configuration, and rack layout for your network closet — designed for the bandwidth your business needs today and tomorrow.

03

Installation

Concealed in-wall runs where possible, plenum-rated cable in air-handling spaces, properly dressed and secured throughout. Every run is pulled cleanly and without shortcuts.

04

Test & Label

Every cable run is tested end-to-end with a cable tester. Every port is labeled at both ends. You receive a complete cable map — so any technician can work with it later.

Complete Low-Voltage Cabling for Every Need

Cat5e / Cat6 / Cat6A Data Drops

Workstation drops, conference room runs, and wireless access point locations — terminated in keystones or RJ45 jacks and patched at a central panel.

IP Camera Infrastructure

PoE-capable Cat6 runs to every camera position — properly sized for cable length, bend radius maintained, and home-run to your NVR or PoE switch.

Fiber Optic Backbone

Single-mode or multi-mode fiber for long runs between floors, between buildings, or where Gigabit Ethernet isn't fast enough for your workload.

Patch Panel & Rack Installation

Properly installed 1U or 2U patch panels in wall-mount or floor-standing racks, dressed cleanly with cable management rails — not a jumble of free-hanging cables.

Access Control & Intercom Wiring

Low-voltage wiring for door readers, magnetic locks, REX sensors, and intercom panels — installed alongside or as a standalone project.

Structured Cabling FAQs

Structured cabling is a standardized system of cables and hardware that forms the backbone of your business network. It includes Cat5e, Cat6, or Cat6A Ethernet runs to every workstation, IP camera, access control reader, and wireless access point — all terminated cleanly in a central patch panel for easy management and future expansion.

Cat5e supports Gigabit Ethernet (1 Gbps) up to 100 meters and is sufficient for most office networks and IP cameras. Cat6 supports 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10 Gbps) up to 55 meters and offers better signal integrity in environments with electrical interference. For most new commercial installations in Los Angeles, we recommend Cat6 as the future-ready standard.

A typical small office (10–20 drops) takes one to two days. Mid-size commercial builds with 40–80 drops typically take two to four days. Large multi-floor installations are scoped individually. Most businesses remain fully operational during installation — we minimize disruption and schedule heavy-impact work during off-hours when needed.

Yes. Low-voltage cabling for IP security cameras, access control readers, intercoms, and VoIP phones is part of what we do. Protection Pros installs the full infrastructure layer — not just the devices. This means one contractor, one point of contact, and a cleaner finished result.

Yes. All cabling work is performed by licensed low-voltage technicians in compliance with California Title 24 and applicable TIA/EIA standards. We use plenum-rated cable where required, properly route through conduit in commercial spaces, and label every run.

Cost depends on the number of drops, building construction type, and distance from the network closet to each endpoint. Small office installations with 10–20 drops typically range from $800–$2,500. Larger commercial builds are quoted on-site. Contact Protection Pros for a free evaluation and written quote.
